The Kaleidoscope is an optical instrument invented by David Brewster in 1816 and rapidly spread by the following years in all Europe. It consists of a cilinder whose interior is filled with small portions of coloured glass. The reflexion of these pieces on three flat mirrors creates endless combinations with different shapes when turning. Beauty, colour and variety have inspired artists and their creativity.
This kaleidoscope is a reproduction of the dating in 1874 and found in an antique shop in Prague. Thanks to its special viewer you can appreciate fully the infinite combinations that their various colored glass allow. It is made of brass and covered with an illustrated paper, giving it a touch of elegance.
This kaleidoscope is a traditional play that during the nineteenth and twentieth centuries have been used as optical toy unique and unrepeatable. It is now a common element in all cultures.
